YouTube Shorts Transcript

Paste a Shorts link and read its caption track

Check a Short against its caption track

Open a public Shorts URL in YouTube Transcript to read an existing track. This guide has no separate lookup form and cannot create captions when a track is missing.

1. Separate captions from words in the picture

A Short can show an edited label while its spoken caption track says something else. InstaScript reads existing YouTube captions, not on-screen text or a newly recognized audio transcript. If the service is unavailable or returns empty content, do not infer that the video certainly has no captions.

Check: The text source is an existing caption track.

2. Verify both sides of a quick cut

Search a distinctive word in the tool, then use its timestamp source link. The link opens YouTube in another tab; there is no embedded YouTube player here. Listen around the cut and check short qualifiers, negations and speaker changes before quoting.

Check: The phrase has enough surrounding context and corresponds to the selected track.

3. Keep the source with the quotation

Markdown provides a transcript note with source information; it does not create an editorial summary. Source links use whole-second starts. Current SRT serialization falls back to two seconds for a missing or zero segment duration, so inspect any file you plan to use as subtitles.

Check: Your saved quotation identifies its source and does not imply exact original end boundaries.

What processing and privacy boundaries apply?

YouTube lookup is server-assisted and successful query responses may cache for one hour. Your browser may contact Google to validate and fetch a selected track. Search and downloads do not create an account history. Following timestamp links contacts YouTube.

Where should I continue?

Open the matching tool and follow its current input requirements. Keep the original, review your result and download it before closing the tab.
