Google Meet Transcript: Find It and Check What Is Missing

Choose native meeting text or a local recording

A meeting transcript and a recording are different starting points. Identify what you actually have, then keep coverage gaps visible in any notes.

Open Video to Text

Choose the evidence you actually have. Native text available. Review the existing transcript. Eligibility varies; see Google help. Local recording available. Use Video to Text. Only the recorded interval. Neither available. Request an appropriate source. Do not invent missing words

1. Check which source is available

Google documents a native transcript feature for eligible accounts and configurations; consult Google Meet transcript help for current availability and access. If you already have a native transcript, review that text. InstaScript does not retrieve private Drive documents, join meetings or provide a meeting bot.

Check: Your chosen source is available to you with appropriate permission.

2. Use a recording only for the interval it covers

For an existing local recording, use Video to Text for browser-decodable English speech up to 100 MB. Model download and language checks apply. Document when recording began and any interruptions. Local cue time starts at this file, not the meeting wall clock.

Check: An absent opening or interrupted section has not become an inferred transcript.

3. Separate evidence from meeting conclusions

Replay a proposed decision and the responses before writing that it was agreed. Keep speaker attribution, action ownership and your summary as checked manual notes. No automatic minutes or decisions are generated here. Save the transcript and notes separately.

Check: The notes cite the available source and explicitly preserve missing coverage.

More questions and limits

What processing and privacy boundaries apply?

Local decoding, recognition, replay, edits and downloads run in your browser. Model resources need network access, but the local recording and transcript are not uploaded. There is no account history or saved cloud project; download your work before closing the tab. Same-origin editor transfer keeps the cues and recording local between tabs. Instagram URL retrieval and YouTube caption lookup have separate server-assisted privacy boundaries.

Where should I continue?
